This year, make resolutions that not only improve the way you look, but also the way you feel. The registered nurses and certified nurse practitioners here at VCI Med Spa are here to guide you on 2023 journey to improve your health while you rejuvenate your body and skin.


Resolution: Drink more water


Drinking enough water every day provides a nearly endless stream of health benefits. A water deficit can make you crabby, constipated, and confused. Lack of water prevents toxins and waste from leaving the body, dulling and puckering skin, causing wrinkles. Enough water helps keeps your joint supple, improves and regulates your digestive system and nourishes tissues and organs. Water plumps your skin, giving you a fresher, smoother and healthier look.


Make it happen


Ways to drink more water include: 

  • Carry a refillable water bottle with you at all times 
  • Drink a glass of water each morning when you first wake up 
  • Choose water instead of soda at every meal 
  • Eliminate sports drinks and refresh with water

Resolution: Tone and tighten


When you build muscle, you also increase bone density. When muscles are stronger and tighter, they pull harder on your bones, which in turn strengthen your bones. Resolution: Eat a healthier lunch


A poor diet, with a surfeit of fat, sugar and salt, leads to poor health and a poor appearance. When you start with a resolution of eating a healthier lunch, you’ll find you’ll want to make your breakfast and dinner fresher and leaner too. As you incorporate these changes into your routine, you’ll see your weight reduce and stabilize, your skin clear and plump with improved nourishment and your energy levels soar.

By planning on the weekend, you’ll avoid running for burgers during the week. We really love this recipe, which is simple, delicious and provides 4 lunches for the week:


Chicken with Tomatoes and Green Beans


Slice 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts into strips and season with salt and pepper. Clean and trim about 1 lb of green beans, or thaw a bag of frozen green beans. In a large skillet over medium heat, warm 2 tablespoons of olive oil and add the chicken. Cook through and remove from pan. Add the green beans and saute until crisp tender (for fresh) or warmed through (for frozen). Add 2 cups of halved cherry tomatoes and stir until warmed. Add chicken back to skillet along with ½ cup of basil pesto. Toss to coat and then divide into 4 storage containers. Heat and serve for nearly a week of healthy lunches!
