CEO, President, Medical Director
A board-certified and fellowship-trained vascular surgeon who also serves VCI Med Spa as CEO and medical director, Dr. Eugene Tanquilut started his vascular surgery private practice in 2014. His office grew rapidly as he began to build his practice by treating patients with varicose veins on the legs and face. Investing in a laser machine, he then delved into cosmetic medicine, performing laser hair removal and body sculpting. VCI Med Spa opened in 2020 as a premier medical spa with on-site vascular surgeons and a talented team specializing in cosmetic medicine.
Registered Nurse
Christi Wessel, RN, earned her Associates of Applied Science degree in Nursing from Moraine Valley Community College. Christi has worked in an outpatient surgery setting as a pre & post-operative nurse, in Labor & Delivery, as a Nurse Case Manager, and as a School Nurse caring for children in an elementary school setting.
Christi became passionate about aesthetics after having her first facial due to problematic adult acne, causing her to feel self-conscious and then completed a three-month hands-on nurse externship in Advanced Botox and Filler procedures. She is committed to continuing education regarding leading-edge skincare products, procedures, and treatment technologies to help her patients achieve their best look – to feel good both inside and out.
Outside of work, Christi loves spending time with her two children, Aayden and Emily, as well as her two dogs. She also enjoys traveling, ice fishing, and being outdoors.
Registered Nurse
Registered nurse Maria Tanquilut graduated with a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Loyola University Chicago in 1993. Her career experience has spanned many different positions over the years, from home health nurse and practice manager to a registered nurse in coronary care and medical intensive care units. She assisted Dr. Eugene Tanquilut in opening a vascular care private practice in 2014. In 2023, she became certified in performing cosmetic sclerotherapy. When she’s not working, Maria enjoys fitness, cooking, watching movies, reading, and spending time with her family. Her newest interest is pickleball.
Med Spa Manager
Samantha has been a licensed cosmetologist for over 25 years. Samantha became interested in aesthetics early on in her career which led her to pursue the aesthetics side of the beauty industry. With 15 years of management under her belt, she brings innovative ways to stay up to date with all the latest in the aesthetics world. She believes the best part of this line of work is making people feel their best by enhancing their natural beauty. When she is not with her VCI Med Spa team she enjoys traveling with her family.
Patient Care Coordinator
Kate is our front desk liaison. She graduated from Paul Mitchell The School with her aesthetics license in 2015. She went on to work in the skin care and waxing industry for many years and even opened her own business. Kate became passionate about skin care at a very young age, which led her to go directly into school at 18. She has held many positions over the years, helping her gain invaluable knowledge about skin care. Outside of work, Kate spends most of her time on the computer and gaming. She also enjoys listening to live music and spending time with her cats. She looks forward to helping you go home with all your skin care essentials.
